Detroit Style Pizza

Ingredients

1 cup warm water

1 teaspoon rapid rise yeast 

1 teaspoon sugar

1 teaspoon salt 

2 1/2 cups flour


1 tablespoon olive oil

3 cloves garlic, minced 

1 teaspoon oregano

1 teaspoon basil

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon pepper

15 oz crushed tomatoes 

1 teaspoons sugar


or... 2 cups marinara


3 tablespoons olive oil

8 ounces sliced pepperoni, about 1/8 inch thick (look for smaller-size pepperoni sticks) 

16 ounces mozzarella cut into 1/2-inch cubes 


Directions

Preheat oven to 200 degrees then turn off

Put 1 cup warm water in large bowl

Sprinkle 1 tsp sugar and 1 tsp yeast on top

let sit for 10 mins

Mix in 1 tsp salt and flour (1/2 cup at a time)

Mix for 5 mins then shape into ball

Oil bowl and coat dough ball in it

Cover with plastic wrap and let sit in oven for 2 hours


Coat 9x13 pan in olive oil

Roll ball in pan to coat, then spread dough as far as you can in pan (without tearing)

Cover w/ the plastic wrap and let sit in oven 


Meanwhile, Saute garlic in olive oil for 1 miniute.

Stir in tomatoes, sugar, oregano, basil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. 

Let simmer for 30 minutes. 


or... just use marinara


Preheat oven to 500 degrees

Spread dough to edges of pan

Lay the cheese cubes on top dough

Dollop the pizza sauce on top in 3 lines

Layer pepperoni on top 

Bake for 20 minutes
