1 teaspoon sugar
1 envelope (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
1 1/2 cups warm water (about 110°F)
4 1/2 to 5 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons salt
2 tablespoons olive oil
In a large bowl, combine sugar, yeast, and warm water. Stir until yeast is dissolved. Let sit for 5-10 minutes until the mixture becomes frothy.
In a separate bowl, mix together flour and salt.
Add flour mixture to yeast mixture and stir until a sticky dough forms.
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes, or until the dough is smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap or a damp towel, and let rise in a warm, draft-free area until doubled in size (about 1-2 hours).
Divide the dough into two or more portions and shape into balls. Place in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for another 10-15 minutes.
The dough is now ready to be used to make your desired pizza!
Bake @450°F for 8-12 minutes
